This week we had a fun afternoon with some former NBC friends, many of whom I haven’t see for ten years or more. This reunion was months in the making and I am thrilled that the group got along so well. The weather made it one of the nicest days of the year to boot!

I began working at NBC in 1983, just in time for the last-place TV network to hire Brandon Tartikoff. He led the network to produce hit after hit, rocketing us to first place on the backs of shows like Cheers, Hill Street Blues, Alf, Seinfeld, The Golden Girls and The Cosby Show.

During my 26 year journey there, I met so many talented and friendly people and greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with so many of them. Not everyone could make it on this date of course, but I am pleased with the group who came.

I had a few goals for the event: First, I miss working with my old comrades and wanted to catch up. Next, I wanted to understand what they are doing in retirement (not all of them have taken that step yet) and lastly I wanted to introduce as many of them to each other as I could. NBC was a big place, and I made friends in different departments and divisions – interconnecting people is one of my passions.

In attendance was Greg and his wife Lori, Les and Debi, Mike and Yyvone, Melinda, Albert and Spencer and of course Sherry and me. We all had a great time chatting, enjoying some delicious food and playing in the lake.

I caught up with each them and was taken in by how they spoke about their passions. They all are enjoying travel and adding that variety into their lives but also have a special passion when at home: boxing, classic clarinet repair or film-making.

It was a special group to gather and a beautiful and fun day.
